Shifting to sustainable transport systems: The LEDS GP Transport Working Group in 2018

Date: Thursday 29 March 2018

Time: 9:00 am ET

Location: GoToWebinar

In this upcoming webinar, our Transport Working Group will introduce its 2018 plan to accelerate the shift to sustainable, low emission transport systems.

As of August 2016, 75 percent of Nationally Determined Contributions (NDCs) – representing 175 countries’ commitment to addressing climate change – explicitly identified the transport sector as a key source of mitigating emissions. Countries facing significantly increasing demand for transport services over the coming decades have a unique opportunity to develop more sustainable transport systems that will meet this demand with high quality service and at the same time, enable economic growth and minimize greenhouse gas emissions to meet their NDC targets.

These sustainable transport systems focus on avoiding the need for travel, shifting to more environmentally (as well as socially and economically) sustainable mobility, and improving transport technologies and fuels. The Low Emission Development Strategies Global Partnership (LEDS GP) Transport Working Group provides technical assistance, tools, and peer-based training on transport system strategies that support low emission development.

This webinar will provide an overview of Transport Working Group’s activities since 2015, followed by presentations from regional representatives on activities planned for 2018, and a peer-training section on how to use the LEDS Transport Toolkit.
