Measuring progress in the transition to a green economy is a complex and multi-dimensional challenge. The development of green growth indicators and data are critical to understand, assess and communicate these efforts, including how they relate to the Sustainable Development Goals.

Recognizing that there is neither a consensus on an analytical framework nor a set of indicators with which to measure green growth, the GGKP Metrics and Indicators Research Committee recently published a global study taking stock of approaches and indicators for measuring inclusive green growth indicators at the country level and outlining key gaps and opportunities for new efforts in data collection, methodological work and indicator development.

Join the Green Growth Knowledge Platform (GGKP) for a webinar on 20 April from 16:00-17:30 (Geneva time), debating where and how we can improve the way we measure our progress towards an inclusive green economy, including how this relates to the Sustainable Development Goals. The webinar, moderated by Professor Carlo Carraro, will feature a presentation by the two Co-Chairs of the GGKP Metrics and Indicators Research Committee, Ulf Narloch (World Bank) and Tomasz Kozluk (Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development), and an intervention by Eve de la Mothe Karoubi (Sustainable Development Solutions Network) who will touch on the relevance to the Sustainable Development Goals indicator negotiations. This will be followed by a moderated discussion with the audience.

Moderator: Carlo Carraro, Professor, Universitá Ca’ Foscari Venezia.

Presenters: Ulf Narloch, Economist, World Bank and Tomasz Kozluk, Senior Economist, OECD.

Discussant: Eve de la Monthe Karoubi, Manager, SDSN.

The presentations will be followed by a moderated discussion and Q&A with the audience.
