With the successful Paris climate change negotiations behind us, attention has now turned to implementing the Paris Agreement, including countries’ Nationally Determined Contributions (NDCs). To further explore these topics we invite you to a United Nations Development Program (UNDP) hosted webinar where we will discuss possible ways forward in preparing for implementation of developing countries’ NDCs.

In January-February 2016, UNDP conducted a survey to assess countries’ envisioned next steps and capacity building/technical assistance needs as they prepare for implementation of their NDCs. The survey received responses from 66 developing-country government officials leading NDC work. These officials represent 58 countries around the world that had previously participated in the INDC technical dialogues organized by UNDP and the UNFCCC Secretariat in 2014-2015.

The webinar will present the results of this survey and discuss NDCs in the Paris Agreement, including a reflection from the UNFCCC and a presentation by the World Resources Institute (WRI) on possible ways forward in implementing NDCs. Finally, it will highlight the thought processes and planning that has taken place in Chile as they prepare for NDC implementation (developing an NDC implementation plan, integrating into development planning, establishing national systems and institutional arrangements, etc.) and provide a space for questions and discussion from the audience.
