Advanced combustion engine research and development: 2010 annual progress report

The U.S. Department of Energy’s Advanced Combustion Engine research and development program works to remove technical barriers to commercialization of advanced internal combustion engines (ICE). Improving the efficiency of ICEs and enabling their introduction is one of the most promising and cost-effective approaches to increasing vehicle fuel economy over the next 30 years.
