Finanzas Carbono (Carbon Finance)

The Carbon Finance knowledge platform aims to become a tool for decision making to strengthen the knowledge and skills of key actors in public and private sectors of Latin America and the Caribbean to participate in Carbon Markets (regulatory and voluntary) as well as promoting the exchange of this knowledge in Spanish.

It also seeks to meet the following specific objectives:

– Responding to the growing need for information in Spanish for the development and exchange of information on topics such as:

  • New mechanisms for mitigation and the process of preparation of national strategies for low carbon development
  • Appropriate mitigation actions each country as a promising and effective mechanism to contribute substantially to the reduction of emissions of greenhouse gases in the post-2012
  • Criteria and indicators for REDD projects
  • How was the project development and carbon financing mechanisms and what its prospects are
  • The characteristics and practical application of methodologies specific baseline and monitoring;
  • The current state and evolution of the carbon markets.
  • Institutional and regulatory environment of the countries in Latin America and the Caribbean regarding mechanisms (including the list of key players per country, statistics carbon projects, energy profile by country, etc.);

– Promote interaction between key to facilitate access to knowledge of global importance and relevance regional actors;

– Promote the exchange of knowledge to date on specific issues within the different communities of practice to leverage the development of these areas within the regional climate finance;

– Provide specific information on various sectors to be exchanged within communities of practice and with a particular focus on the following topics:

  • Energy
  • Photovoltaic Solar Energy
  • National strategies for low carbon development (LEDs)
  • Financial institutions
  • Activity program
  • Transport
  • Waste
  • REDD +
  • Waste
  • Transport
  • NAMAs
