Growth through transformation : An investment vision guide for climate and development

2pm, September 29th, 2020

The ClimateWorks Australia is excited to launch Growth through transformation: An investment vision guide for climate and development. The Investment Vision Guide supports governments in developing economies to unlock this investment. It outlines a five-part process to create an enabling environment for green investment and to align public and private sector finance with sustainable development and the goals of the Paris Agreement.

The guide presents a theoretical framework to complement efforts by countries to implement the long-term strategies developed under the Paris Agreement. It supports a shift in decision-making, policy design and government budgeting from a focus on incremental emissions reductions to the transformational change required by the climate challenge.

This guide is particularly suited for central ministries with investment and budgeting responsibilities, such as ministries of finance, economic affairs and planning. While the guide is designed for governments, its outputs can be valuable for investors who play a role in the continuum of capital for developing countries.

To support the launch, ClimateWorks is also hosting a webinar panel discussion on Thursday, 8 October 2020.

The webinar will feature ClimateWorks head of international programs Meg Argyriou, Dian Lestari from Indonesia’s Fiscal Policy Agency, Ministry of Finance, Cecilia Tam from the OECD (Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development), Richard Baron from the 2050 Pathways Platform  and Guntur Sutiyono from ClimateWorks in Jakarta.

This free online event will focus on ways governments can unlock transformational investments in green growth and jobs.
