Investing in low carbon and climate resilient development

3pm, July 22nd, 2015

This webinar is the first of the Climate Investment Funds (CIF) Webinar Series.  The objective of the webinar is to introduce and explain the CIF to the development community and engage with them in an open dialogue about the Climate Investment Funds.

Presentations are first given by the program manager of the CIF Administrative Unit (AU) and the Climate Investment Funds coordinator of the Asian Development Bank (ADB), two of the key institutions responsible for the management and operations of the Climate Investment Funds.

The presentation by the Climate Investment Funds AU provides a clear and detailed introduction to the Climate Investment Funds’ mission, objectives, governance, and geographic and financial scope and scale.  The presentation by ADB outlines the climate challenges facing its client countries and provides insights, from the mutlilateral development bank perspective, on their early operational experiences working with Asian countries to develop and prioritize their low carbon development investments through the Clean Technology Fund.

The webinar concludes with a presentation by a representative from St. Lucia, one of the recipient countries participating in the Pilot Program for Climate Resilience (PPCR) under the Caribbean regional pilot program.  The presentation describes Saint Lucia’s approach to the PPCR and shares their experience thus far from working with the Climate Investment Funds to develop and prioritize their strategic program of investments for climate resilience.
