One UN training service platform for climate change (UN CC:LEARN)

9am, July 21st, 2015

The One UN training service platform for climate change (UN CC:Learn) is a collaborative initiative involving 33 multilateral organizations which supports countries in designing and implementing country-driven, results-oriented and sustainable learning to address climate change. The initiative was launched at the 2009 Copenhagen Climate Change Summit.

CC:Learn is included in the ‘One UN climate change action framework’ of the UN System chief executives board for coordination (CEB) through the capacity development group convened by the UN Development Project (UNDP) and the UN Environmental Program (UNEP). The CEB framework aims at maximizing existing synergies, eliminating duplication and optimizing the impact of the collective effort of UN organizations in combating climate change.

CC:Learn contributes to the implementation of Article 6 of the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) on training and education, and the individual capacity development pillar of the UNFCCC capacity development framework.

UN CC:Learn is implemented through three program areas which build on and are closely linked to each other. They include:
  1. Knowledge Sharing and Management
  2. One UN Climate Change Training
  3. Human Resources, Learning and Skills Development in Partner Countries
