Preliminary study on sustainable low carbon development towards 2030 in Viet Nam

This low carbon society report aims to show the possibility of developing Viet Nam into a low carbon society. The objective of designing low carbon societies is to avoid dangers by global climate change.

This pamphlet is also intended to (i) introduce the preliminary study on low carbon society in Viet Nam towards 2030 by using the Extended Snapshot Tool) ExSS, and (ii) expect the collaboration with related experts, researchers, authorities and community to contribute building a low carbon society in Viet Nam.

This study, towards a low carbon society for Viet Nam, is carried out for the following main sectors: residential, commercial, industrial, passenger and freight transport sectors.

The methodology involves

  • (i) deducing the inventory of socio-economic, energy and Green House Gases (GHGs) emission in CO2 equivalent of Viet Nam in baseline year 2005, and
  • (ii) quantifying socio-economic activity level in 2030 according to national development objectives.

Most of energy information used in this estimation were referred from the International Energy Agency (IEA).
