Reducing oil use and CO2 emissions by informing consumers’ fuel economy decisions: The role for clean cities

This report provided a basis for discussion during a U.S. Department of Energy Clean Cities strategy workshop. It explores the current issues and trends in motor vehicle fuel economy in the United States as well as recent research on fuel economy information. The paper also analyzes federal incentives, successful strategies and future challenges, and the environmental benefits associated with improved fuel economy.
